Objectives and Expected Results: 

The project aims to develop sustainable urban transport on the territory of Plovdiv City by introducing environmentally friendly means for the needs of its residents and guests, incl. persons from vulnerable groups. The goal of the project will be achieved through the following measures: acquisition of 20 electric buses and accompanying charging infrastructure, upgrading the traffic management systems and urban transport (introduction of complementary software solutions, increasing of controlled zones and intersections, prioritization of public vehicles, implementation of integrated solutions for passenger information, transport means traceability, and passenger flow, etc.), implementation of road safety measures and improvement of accessibility for disadvantaged persons, optimization of the infrastructure of the public transport depot, etc. The implementation of the project will lead to: improvement of the quality, efficiency and condition of the mass urban transport, upgrading of the measures implemented by the Municipality of Plovdiv in the field of UM and IUT in the programming period 2007-2013 under OPRD, as well as the subsequent ones, implemented with the local government’s financial resources, improving the ecological condition of the city and the quality of atmospheric air, reducing harmful emissions into the atmosphere, improving the energy efficiency of public services and increasing the share of savings in the sector, increasing the attractiveness, accessibility and quality of public transport, reducing travel by private vehicles, traffic jams, road accidents, etc.
