Objectives and Expected Results:
The project aims at the construction of a modernized municipal system for outdoor lighting (SOL) by introducing EE measures in three areas of the city of Plovdiv – Eastern District (btw. Tsarigradsko shose blvd., Landos st., Krayrechna st., and Sixth September Blvd. AND Tsarigradsko shose blvd., Landos st., Bunderitsa st. and W.Wilson St.); Southern District w/ scope: Komatevo, Belomorski and Ostromila quarters, AND btw. Kuklensko shose st., Al. Stamboliyski Blvd., Macedonia Blvd., and Bacho Kiro st.); Western District w/ scope: Proslav Quarter, Koprivshtitsa Blvd., Peshtersko Shose Blvd., Tsarevets st., and Sofia st. AND Koprivshtitsa Blvd., Yasna Polyana st., and Svoboda Blvd.). With the project Plovdiv Municipality will reduce CO2 emissions (by 2035,90 tons/year), energy consumption (4189104,49 kWh/year, incl. achieving min. 30% energy savings) and the fin. costs for electric energy, and will improve the living conditions of the population directly affected by it (187 032 pple.), and in the long-term those of residents and guests of the city. Specific goals of the project will be realized through the following synergistic activities: 1. Modernization of the SOL in the 3 Districts by introd. EE measures for: replacement of lighting fixtures with LED ones; construction of auto control system and energy monitoring of the SOL; impl. of RES for EE; 2. Prep. of a Report on the results of the EE measures; 3. Organization and management of the project; 4. Publicity. The planned sum of activities will ensure the quality, transparent and efficient realization of the project and will lead to: the replacement of 3948 light. fixts. with modern LED ones, part of the EE measures; construction of a Center for automated management and control & introduction of RES. The project is in full correspondence with leading strategic plans in national and EU context, contr. to: reduction of energy consumption, harmful emissions pollution; increasing the share of EE and use of RES, etc.
